Posted by MMVM on Thursday, April 9th, 2020
The new coronavirus represents a major challenge for the entire world. The global spread of COVID-19 has already wrecked many lives and has millions more worried. Our society is dealing with issues while adjusting to unfamiliar new social rules and attitudes.
While most of our outside activities are now almost zero, this also gives parents the time to interact and build up their bonding with kids.
Let's check out some basic yet useful mantras to make this time more fruitful and fun.
1. Be Positive
Parents usually tell kids what to do and what not to do along with some nagging trying to push them away from any negative activity but let's build up this time to boost the positive aspects.
Encourage kids to do something positive, take note of that and make a list of all the positives done by your little one.
Talk to them and encourage them more to build up these points.
2. Do It Yourself!
The internet is buzzing with fun activities that one can try with little ones at home, for example making your own mask, making a tree house for birds etc.
These activities not only build skills but also enrich the bonding between parents and their wards. So do try and share with us too!
3. Make a To-Do List
This is a time to reflect back on what all you wish to do and achieve together as a family and one strong unit. So sit with your kids, pool in your ideas and make a to-do list for maybe the next five days or three days. Keep short and simple targets and end of the time period, check what all you could achieve together and the scope for improvement.
All this will build up your kids' analytical skills and boost their morale to do better and get involved in decision making process.
4. Virtual Get Together
The age of internet has made it easy for us to stay connected with family and friends. Utilise the free apps to connect with your near and dear ones in these testing times and also encourage kids to boost relations with their cousins, grandparents and others who might be in different cities.
This will not only connect them with all but also create a positive impact for future.
5. Plan for Future
Last but not the least, plan for the future. The lockdown phase has been a test for all with each of us having to ditch our plans. But it's the best time to put all your collective plans on paper and plan how you wish to achieve them once the lockdown is over, for eg. a brief holiday, a picnic, getting kids enrolled for a new hobby class etc.
We are sure following these basic mantras will help you rise above these dark times. Remember, stay home, stay safe and stay positive.
